No File Download to Ipad
I love the my Ditto server, OK? But, like a growing number of apps and sites, the developers FORGOT or DON'T KNOW that Pages, Keynote and Goodreader can download compatible files off the web.
I want to download files into these iPad applications into my iPad memory at times so that I can modify them on my iPad. I can highlight and markup .pdf files in Goodreader to make them easier to understand. I can do things with files.
But I can't always download the file. It seems like the server software is set up to not share files in some cases... One is the my Ditto. I can't tap the file and see the "Open in Pages" or the "Open in Goodreader" box.
When an iPad user taps on that box, the file downloads to the iPad application, is stored onto the iPan, and opens in the application.
SO, its getting really annoying to see iPhone and iPod style 'mobile' app displays that simply scroll the file. And that is what my Ditto does on the iPad. So. I want to download and print. I have to go to a computer. I want to download to my iPad. I have to use iTunes or email or some other cloud system OTHER than my Ditto!!! Some of theses developers arent getting the message that iPad does NOT have to download by downloading first to a laptop or a desktop.
And while Im at it, the my Ditto works great on a computer. I just want the same ability to download to my iPad as I have with the Ipad versions of Pages, Keynote, Goodreader and many others. NOT the ...what Im starting to call "mobilised" version of things that just scroll and won
t download... an example of a badly mobilised version is maps.... NO 'time in traffic' time given in directions, and no moving the route around with a cursor/finger .... and now mapquest and googlemaps on the ipad have been mobilised. no time in traffic? useless. I have to go my computer to get that version on my screen! OK off topic sort of.... my Ditto is cool, but II can
t even FTP it yet... I have to write them about that. I cant navigate to my ditto..MY my ditto.. I need to ask them about this because that would let me download with my iPad. YEs, developers. Get a copy of pages or goodreader and RUN IT ON an ipad before you decide what can't be done with an iPad. thanks.
Good app for general access of data and media...

my-Ditto is a valuable tool in our home for backing up and accessing our data/media.
The my-Ditto does need an upload and downloading tool. There simply said.
This is a review of the iPad app only.
The ad says 'modify'. It says 'upload'. I say, 'How?' Dane-Elec says,'FTP'. I ask for more help. I get no reply.
From a remote computer the myDitto obsoletes carrying backup drives and USB sticks. Its great.
But the mobile version does not 'download, then modify, then upload' anything I use, modify, or annotate... pages, docs, keynote, powerpoint, adobe files. One reviewer said they can upload pics from an iPhone. How?
